Live By the Sun... - Travelling to Stilts Calatagan Beach Resort
Rainy days are upon us during the month of August, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the long weekend here at Stilts Calatagan Beach Resort.
Dubbed as "The Maldives of the Philippines", these floating cottages get easily booked, so I had to make my reservation as early as November last year and pray that the weather would be on our side once there.
Getting there was easy enough as long as you don't mind the long commute, though we had a little blooper when we first stopped by PITX (ParaƱaque Integrated Terminal Exchange), expecting a bus to Calatagan to no avail (should have been at Buendia - DLTB Co. Terminal), so we decided to take the bus to Nasugbu instead.
No complaints here though, the place was pretty organized, just lacked a more informative website...
We got dropped off at Lian Town Proper at least 3-hours later, where we rode a jeepney to Calatagan, fare was at least 40Php/pax (35Php for senior citizen) and another hour on the road before we reached the town proper. The last leg of our commute was on a tricycle directly to the resort costing 200Php which took another 15-minutes resulting in us getting checked-in at around 3pm.
A wrist tag like the one we had at Pico de Loro... Though not as durable...
All water activities weren't available during that time since it was still a bit windy from the storm that just passed, so we opted to stop by the restaurant for some late-lunch before deciding to take a dip at the Infinity Pool!
Time for a quick bite at the resto!
Stilts has 2 available pools for swimming...
...I just prefer this one more...
We didn't get to see the sunset since it remained cloudy all afternoon, and by the time we got back at our cottage it was already at around 7PM so we opted to have dinner there (courtesy of room service).
Here's a recap of the interior of our cottage: Dreams
Here's the living & dining area...
The master's bedroom, where you can fit 3 people...
Though there's the loft bedroom if there are more than that...
Dinner with a side of cocktails!
As a nightcap, I decided to avail the Massage Treatments they also offer since you can't do much around the area once it gets dark.
Floating Cottages in the dark
Dinner with firelights
Late night dip... ;)
All in all, there's still a lot to see in Stilts so we're planning to see the sunrise the next day and start exploring the area early. Find out on my next post what else we'll find!
