The Summer Cheese Meltdown

It's summer, and it's REALLY hot here in the Philippines during this season. So to forget that hot, sweaty feeling we all get during times like these, here's a little something to "sweeten" your day:

It gets to you... doesn't it? @.@

I just thought of posting this after a few weeks of "blogger laziness", and combined with taking summer classes at my college; I think this is a cool (... or sweet?) way to recharge.

So my tip for this summer: If you can't afford going to those expensive beaches and resorts, why not go to the nearest mall and just sit there and absorb the coolness! (P.S. Don't forget the Cheesecake! ;P)

Summer: It's the "Hunting" Season

In this kind of weather, we usually get angry easily. So what better way to release all that pent up stress and anxiety by watching action movies. Here's a film that fits the criteria:

This is definitely a "Grimm" tale... o.O

I'm sure we've all heard the original tale of this story right? Well let's just say this film takes off where the Grimm tale ended. So after slaying their first witch and escaping, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) decide to officially become Witch Hunters. Cool huh? But the film has a few twist, and we later find out why the siblings were left in the woods in the first place and how they even managed to kill a witch. Maybe it was just sheer dumb luck, but who knows right?

Yeah I know, with all those "fairytale remakes" getting released in Hollywood, this film sounds sappy huh? But lo and behold, this film drove my eyes out of my sockets with its fast-paced action scenes. Though aside from being action-packed, the story is just alright, I mean it's definitely a "no brainer" kind of movie. So yeah, if you want entertainment without over-thinking it, here's the movie for you!

Love is So Dead!

A belated Happy Valentine's Day to you guys! If you're one of those people who enjoyed "The Day of Love", well good for you! Although if you're one of the single ladies out there (like me!), well fear no more, cause this movie will have you thinking that "Even the DEAD can find LOVE". Let me introduce to you, "Warm Bodies"!

This somehow reminds of...

Even if the poster looks similar to a "shimmering" couple we know, the storyline is COMPLETELY different! Why? 'Cause this movie stars a zombie! No not the brain-eating type! (Well, maybe at first...) But let's just say, this zombie found love in all the right brain parts! So the movie starts with R (Nicholas Hoult), just R 'cause he doesn't remember his name, and he's a zombie who by some strange circumstances, still feels that there should be something "more" in his undead "life". So when he encounters living, breathing Julie (Teresa Palmer) in one of his "hunting" trips, will he also find that "something" that he's been wondering about? How can their love change the zombie-infected world? There's also this BIG question mark on whether a zombie can really love, so yeah, it's complicated.

I know it sounds new to have a "zombie-romance" chick flick, but it didn't disappoint in being the first of its kind! Although my mom did have this, "It's just gross!" kind of feeling. You can't blame her though, back in her days, these "undead" people weren't exactly first date material. But I'm keeping an open mind on these stuff! Thumbs up for the romance, the right amount of horror in it, and the expressive actors! I also think that while vampires are "cool" undeads, let's face it, zombies are WAY hotter when they rise from the dead!

Can't You See That You...

So it's a Thursday today, so what? Oh right, it's Valentine's Day... the day of "couples". Now don't get me wrong, I AM honestly bitter about this day to the point I "usually" don't go out, EVER. But I guess things have to change, I can't afford NOT going to school now that I'm in college, it's too risky to miss a quiz here and there. So if you're single (like me... >_<) and "forced" to treat the day like any other day, just listen to Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" and wish that the "Laws of Attraction" would be just as simple.

You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upsetShe's going off about something that you said'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do

I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday nightI'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't likeAnd she'll never know your story like I do

But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirtsShe's Cheer Captain and I'm on the bleachersDreaming about the day when you wake up and findThat what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I'm the one who understands youBeen here all along, so why can't you see? You, you belong with me, you belong with me

Walking the streets with you and your worn-out jeansI can't help thinking this is how it ought to beLaughing on a park bench, thinking to myselfHey, isn't this easy?

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole townI haven't seen it in a while since she brought you downYou say you're fine, I know you better than thatHey, what ya doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels, I wear sneakersShe's Cheer Captain and I'm on the bleachersDreaming about the day when you wake up and findThat what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I'm the one who understands youBeen here all along, so why can't you see?You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back doorAll this time how could you not know?Baby, you belong with me, you belong with me

Oh, I remember you driving to my house in the middle of the nightI'm the one who makes you laugh when you know you're 'bout to cryAnd I know your favorite songs and you tell me 'bout your dreamsThink I know where you belong, think I know it's with me

Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you?Been here all along, so why can't you see?You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back doorAll this time, how could you not know?Baby, you belong with me, you belong with me

You belong with meHave you ever thought just maybeYou belong with me?You belong with me

Suddenly this song reminds of a friend of mine, I mean it's obvious that she likes the guy but said guy has a girlfriend, although they've got some complications brewing. So maybe if destiny could have it, my friend could probably end up like Taylor Swift here. Yeah keep wishing, maybe your long time crush (or "friend"...) would suddenly see you in a different light, which will then end in a happy ending like the one in the music video.

Although, I think the guy treated her as the "next" best option (or rebound...) and like a saying goes, "If yo spend TOO LONG holding on to someone who treats you like an OPTION, you will MISS finding the ONE who will treat you like a PRIORITY." Happy Valentine's Day guys!

Don't Lose Your Head In This!

Advance Happy Chinese New Year guys! So in accordance to the big celebration tomorrow, and also to my Saturday movie reviews. I give to you "Chinese Zodiac"! Starring Jackie Chan, so you better watch it! It's also his last action movie, which makes it a major MUST WATCH!

Eenie, meenie, miney, mo!

If you're wondering what those heads are for, well the story starts like this: There are only 4 out of 12 heads at the start of the film, which makes it rare, and this also makes the other 8 REALLY rare. This is where JC (Jackie Chan) steps in, he's a mercenary who works for this really rich guy. All he has to do is look for the REAL artifact, gives it to the "big boss", where it is then DUPLICATED, and then auctioned off to the other rich people. However those "heads" aren't supposed to be just auctioned off like that, since they did originally belong China before the colonizers came. So JC's kinda stump on whether he would just steal it and give it his boss, or if he'll be an "honest thief" and give it back to his people.

Just because the storyline sounds kinda simple, that doesn't make it any less more action-packed. You'll be gripping your seats and stalling to eat that next bit of popcorn just to see what happens next. You'll like this movie cause it's filled with cool gadgets, the right amount of comedy, and also an action-packed movie that can only be made by Jackie Chan!

How to Train A Tiger in The Middle of the Pacific Ocean

I was asking myself that same question when I came upon this movie. I mean being stranded in the Pacific alone is tough enough already right? But think about being stranded with a Bengal Tiger... in the middle of the Pacific Ocean...? I know right, it's just nuts!

Even the poster got me wondering... @.@

So the story starts with Pi as a kid and his life in India, here we see he's a very intelligent boy with a thirst for knowledge and who's also curious about the things that are unknown. Fast forward to him being a teen who's about to migrate to Canada, since his father decided to leave the zoo that they owned back in India and start anew. So all is normal in Pi's life, the zoo animals will be sold somewhere in Northern America and they'll have enough for a new life there in Canada, however tragedy strikes when their cargo ship encounters a thunder storm in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Pi is distraught to find out that he is the only one who survives the sinking and to make matters worst, he finds out he is also stuck with their zoo's tiger, Richard Parker! So this, my friends, is how Pi's 227 day journey began. In a lifeboat, out in the middle of the Pacific, stuck with a Bengal Tiger.

I do hope the trailer interested you, it sure interested me and got me watching it on the big screen! However I'd like to point out that the first part of the movie was kinda all talk and no adventure yet since we're given a flashback of how Pi's life was like when he was a kid, here we see how his growing up years turned him into a really religious person with three religions. Yes, three religions, believe me! I think the deep faith that he has also helped him get through this life-changing aspect of his life. In the end, the film proved to be full of one's spirituality and the will to survive, also add Richard Parker and you wouldn't be left bored to death in that lifeboat!
